A board book for dog lovers

This week was a light reading week, as Nana came to visit. We tried to read a few Valentine's Day-related books, but we'll save that for a separate posting soon. In the meantime, here are our most recent discoveries/rediscoveries.

Dog by Matthew Van Fleet. This is a large, fun, sturdy board book full of photographs, touch and feel sections, and big tabs that are easily maneuvered by small fingers to make dogs' legs scratch, their tails wag, and their wet heads shake. It entertained a cranky toddler during an afternoon outing, and has been a hit since taking it home.

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. We picked this classic up at the library and gave it a try, but it didn't keep our bookworm's attention (at 14 months). We'll try again.

Ditto on Max Cleans Up. This was our first encounter with the Max and Ruby series. In this book, Max keeps stuffing things in his pockets as Ruby encourages him to clean up. The story is cute, and the cleaning up lesson might be useful someday, but at 14 months, the most popular page is the lining with tiny pictures of things like dolls, airplanes, etc.
