Don't quote me on that...

This week's activity from the Weekly Geeks site is a fun and easy one: A Quote of the Day. Those participating agree to post a quote a day for a full week. I usually include excerpts in our reviews anyway, but this sounds fun, so I'll be highlighting a different quote every day. The rules:
You may want to come up with a theme, such as favorite passages from books, author quotes, political quotes, quotes about books or reading, humorous quotes, whatever. Or you may not want a theme at all; maybe you just want to gather up seven assorted quotes that appeal to you. You may want to start each of your posts of the week with a quote, or you may want to give quotes posts of their own in addition to your regular posts. It’s all up to you!
Honestly, I haven't decided yet whether I'll stick to a theme. But I just can't resist starting with one of the most quotable pieces of children's literature: The House at Pooh Corner, by A. A. Milne. The bibliophile has finally started toddling about the house (after perfecting his crawl for many months), so this quote (from the Enchanted Place story) seems fitting today:
“Christopher Robin was sitting outside his door, putting on his Big Boots. As soon as he saw the Big Boots, Pooh knew that an Adventure was going to happen, and he brushed the honey off his nose with the back of his paw, and spruced himself up as well as he could, so as to look Ready for Anything.” -- A. A. Milne
The World of Pooh: The Complete Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner (Pooh Original Edition) (Hardcover). We reviewed our collection of Pooh stories here. If you're looking for your own set, you can buy the same one we have from amazon.com by clicking on the link of the book cover.

Hope you enjoy our quotes this week!

A lovely quote. No wonder kids love Pooh,

I love Pooh, he's so darling! Milne captures the essence of childhood so well, and it resonates even with us adults. Children's books are a nice source of really simple lines but profound. :)

Charming! And a reminder to adults to relish the thrill of small and large adventures as we did as children.

I really love Winnie the Pooh and that is a really great quote. It doesn't get more classic than that.
