Pumpkin Crafts for Pre-K/Kindergarten Age

We woke up this morning to a Winter Wonderland of snow, so I guess I had better post about some pumpkin crafts before autumn is completely eclipsed by winter around here!

I probably should not have attempted this pumpkin wreath when Daddy was home, because the Bibliophile just kept running away to play with him instead.  I thought it would be a nice craft for his age level.  I let him color a paper plate orange (paint would be prettier, but he chose markers).  Then I cut out a bunch of mini pumpkins and put out some craps of paper and do-a-dot-markers to decorate them with.  Honestly, he wasn't very interested.  I just ended up doing a lot of the pumpkins myself in attempts to catch his interest.  He was excited to write "BOO" on some, and then really cracked himself up by writing "BOP" instead.

Five Little Pumpkins (Padded Board Books)Thanks to a Tiger Tales give-away that we won, we enjoyed reading Five Little Pumpkins together quite a few times this week.

We also went to a playgroup where another mom had spraypainted pumpkins with chalkboard paint ahead of time, and set them out with chalk for the kids to decorate.  All of the kids (ages 1-3) enjoyed it.

Other pumpkiny fun we've been up to:
  • Homemade pumpkin muffins.
  • Roasted pumpkin seeds
  • Pumpkin patch / corn maze (see post here)
  • Decorating mini pumpkins from a local farm (post here).

I have heard about the five little pumpkins book - and it sounds lovely! We haven't been TOO halloween round our way, Red Ted doesn't get it all yet, though he knows what ghosts are now...

Love all your pumpkiness!! May have to have a go at roasting some pumpkin seeds!!

Thank you so much for linking to Kids Get Crafty!! :-)

Those ideas are all very cute. As for us, hmm... Let's see... Umm... Oh yes, school! Lots and lots of Halloween crafts in school including various pumpkin crafts. I guess jack-o-lantern is coming on Friday. Traditionally Anna and papa make it directly before Halloween.

We got pumpkins at a nearby patch and have used them to make pumpkin walnut cookies, pumpkin chocolate cookies, pumpkin molasses swirl bread, and soon pumpkin soup!

I envy your group! What fabulous ideas! We haven't done much this year in terms of Halloween but we'll be visiting a museum this weekend which should entail just that!

Snow already...we have had unusually warm weather here. I don't even want to think about snow yet!!

Anyway, I love this project what a cute little wreath and all your other pumpkin activities sound like fun too.

We have been doing a lot with pumpkins too, we went pumpkin picking, carved a jack o'lantern and roasted the seeds too. We also did a few pumpkin crafts in between everything else.

Thank you for linking up to stART and sharing all your great ideas!

My daughter colored a tiny pumpkin with permanent markers yesterday during pumpkin day at school. She wanted to complete it at home, with our colored permanent markers. My husband thought I was crazy to let her use them and was worried she'd wreck something.

Earlier in the week we made a pumpkin outline by gluing noodles to an orange sheet. Then we drew in the face with white glue and added some glitter. It looks pretty cool.
