What my Child Is Reading

Here are a few of the new  (to us) books we've read this week --

Black? White! Day? Night! - A Book of Opposites (Ala Notable Children's Books (Awards)) (Neal Porter Books)Black?  White!  Day?  Night!  A Book of Opposites

Two Sticks

This is written by the author of Lemons Are Not Red, so I knew it would be great.  I love the variety of vocabulary - readers are given a word, and when they lift the flap, they see the opposite.  It is a fairly thick book, and while the Bibliophile understands the idea of opposites, there are some more challenging ones (lead/follow, mountain/valley, etc.).  Definitely recommended.

Two Sticks
Happy Birthday, Biscuit!
Nana brought this one, and all I can say about it is that there was much laughter and goofiness as it was read by them together.  I haven't read it myself yet.

 Happy Birthday, Biscuit
I Love You Stinky Face The Bibliophile loved this one.

I Love You, Stinkyface
I had read about this one often, and was excited to finally read it.  The Bibliophile's reaction was mixed.  He laughed at where you'd expect, and we made it through the whole thing.  But he did say partway through that he didn't like how the boy kept changing into different animals, and then suggested we donate it to the library.  I'm going to squirrel it away, though; I like it enough to keep it.

We haven't read any of these, but "Lemons Are Not Red" is Mike's favorite children's book, so we'll have to look for that first book.

We read Biscuit books and while JC seemed okay with it, I wasn't particularly interested. I wonder if there is a more fun way to read them that I don't know about?

Oh, we love biscuit! I don't know if there is a fun way to read them, Joyful learner, or if it is just a preference of the kid. I totally want to get the first book, sounds great.
Oh, and I'd save I love you stinkyface. I bet he'll like it soon.

We are fans of Stinky Face as well.

I would love if you could write at length about the food allergy situation in your home with Bibliophile. Maybe a page not a post?

We read Black White Day Night for an opposites theme for story hour a while back. Everyone enjoyed it. I bet my kids will like the stinky face book!

We haven't read any of those books, but reaction of IB to the last one cracked me up. This is something Anna would be likely to say to a book she didn't care for.
