So, we were happy to have the opportunity to review a new board book this month. I thought it would be an easy read for the Bibliophile, and doubly useful when a new baby makes an appearance.
Color Bears, by Judy Palaferro. Color Bears combines bright illustrations (depicting colorful bears in all sorts of fun situations), alongside pages of high contrast black and white images that are sure to appeal to babies. The text is simple ("Sunny Yellow Bears"), and the artwork playful (yellow bear-shaped sunglasses). Brooklyn-based illustrator and designer Judy Palaferro has created a charming board book for the youngest of bibliophiles.Excerpt:
"Bright orange bears"
Bookworm's interest at 2 years, 6 months: He enjoyed it right away, and often chooses this to read before bed. I would recommend it for a younger age group (he's 2 1/2), but I can see it will get a lot of use around here, particularly when there is a younger sibling to share it with.
