H20! Not an original idea, I know, but I'm thinking that if I just rotate this around to a different part of the dining room each day, I'll never have to wash my floor again...

We used: a few different plastic cups, two medicinal syringes, a water dropper from our microscope set, a little cup from a cough medicine bottle, and (later) a bunch of cars for a car wash. He practiced pouring, tested which things floated, learned how to operate the different tools, and incorporated plenty of pretend play. I made dinner and put the baby to sleep in a carrier while playing along.
For another variation on this idea, check out the glacier play scene we made when we were learning about Iceland.
The only drawback was that it reminded him about his rice sensory bin, so my dining room once again has more rice on the floor than an Uncle Ben's factory.

I love your wood floors! We have had a lot of luck with water sensory bins here, too!
