We have been enjoying our story journal lately. I put it in one of the Bibliophile's learning boxes with something to inspire a story, and he dictates one to me. The photo below (a cat on a laptop) is from our box of Story Sparkers
, for instance.
I thought I'd share a few of his recent musings.
No story sparker:
Once upon a time, there was a tiger and a pig. And they were driving in an airplane to Africa. And they were walking somewhere where there was a big pyramid. And the tiger thought that the pyramid was purple! And the pig thought that the pyramid was light brown. And then they had a nice drink. The end.
Picture of cat using a laptop:
Once upon a time, there was a cat playing the computer. And he played some Starfall on the computer. And the cat doesn't go to bed. Only people go to bed. The end.
Picture of monkey with his head in his hands:
Once upon a time, there was a monkey. The monkey was leaning his head over the hand. I think he feels like eating banana. He is going to find somebody if he needs help. The end.
Picture of dogs on an airplane:
Once upon a time there was some dolls. And they had some dogs. And they were at an airport riding on an airplane. And they're going to Khazakstan. And what they did there was they were walking to Bethlehem. The end.

This cracks me up - especially "walking to Bethlehem from Kazakhstan" story. Great way to encourage imagination - I should do it more often.
So funny! We have some eeboo story starter cards that we like to use to do this. It's been a while; I'll have to get them out.
He's got a great imagination! And he seems quite fond of Khazakstan =)
These stories will be so fun to look back on.
I would love it if you linked this post up to my new link up called Writer's World:
