Product Review: Nest and Stack Buckets

We recently received a set of Nest and Stack Buckets from Growing Tree Stores.  It includes a shape sorter lid and four shapes, as well as 10 cups with numbers underneath; the cups can be nested together or stacked to create a three foot tower.

I love how many fun ways there are to use this product. I'm sure it will become a bath toy for the kids eventually (plastic cups are probably my favorite bath toy), but for now it has taken up residence in our rice sensory bin.

I bought it with our baby in mind, but the Bibliophile has loved testing them out for her. We use them to scoop and pour; to hide things in them; to count (to properly nest the cups); to talk about simple fraction concepts like 1/2 full and 1/4 full; and even subtraction (take the cup with a 3, pour into the 1 cup until it's full, and the remainder fits in the 2 cup).  Ridges on the cups allow them to stack nicely.

This is a fun, basic toy with multiple uses for a reasonable price ($15.95).  It is going on my mental list of birthday gift ideas for 1 year olds.

Thank you to Growing Tree Toys for the opportunity to review this product. Check out Growing Tree's other stacking and sorting toys.   I especially love the idea of this Stack N Roll Tower.

Disclosure: I received this product from Growing Tree Toys at no cost in exchange for this review.

My mom gave these buckets to us over 2 years ago for my now 3.5 year old son, and he and his one-year-old sister still play with them all the time. It is my number one go-to toy to pack when we go on trips because we get so many play options, but it doesn't take up much room in our bags.

That being said, even after having these for so long, I'm a little embarrassed to say that the volume aspect never occurred to me. Since my son is just starting to get into adding things (mainly wheels on train cars), that is so great to know. I think we'll be pouring beans in our 'bean tub' tomorrow! :)

It is nice to know that they have kept their appeal! I think the volume works as I've described, at least it did for 1/2/3 but I'd like to double check on the higher numbers (would filling the 1 cup five times and pouring into the 5 cup work for instance? I think so - I was pleasantly surprised by that fact but I'm still hesitant to say it's accurate for sure. I need to play with that part more. :)
