A sandwich shop:

From left to right: rice cake pieces, turkey, daiya dairy-free cheese, avocado spread, more rice cakes, (real) bacon bits, potato chips.
This turned into "how many different kinds of sandwiches can we make?," all of which he ate!

Dessert later:

Ice cream sandwich (enjoy life double chocolate brownie cookies and coconut milk based chocolate ice cream).
Later he asked me to refill his cups with these ingredients to make more "sandwiches."

Freeze dried bananas, sunbutter, crispix cereal, rice cakes.
Not a bad lunch for a kid allergic to 10+ foods, including dairy wheat, and eggs!
Comment! What are your favorite strategies for feeding picky toddlers?
I am linking this post up with Muffin Tin Monday.

Wonderful idea! It reminds me of when we used to make tiny sandwiches as kids while playing restaurant. I need to be more creative with K's meals.
Oh, recently, we had a HORRIBLE experience with an allergist. Needless to say, I'm going to get a second opinion.
Email me about it!
Great idea! :)
Very cute idea! I've been lucky that Keree isn't a pick eater and only recently discovered a few foods she didn't like eating.
Super great idea! We have two allergic to gluten over here so your lunch looks pretty similar to ours. :-) But I have never let them make their own and I think they would LOVE it! I find that making fun shapes/faces/ color schemes ect helps with picky eaters. Exposure, exposure and more exposure. Also, muffin tins and liners go a long way to making something look appealing to toddler and preschoolers.
This looks like a very fun idea. My daughter is not allergic at all, but she was (and still is to a degree) very picky. At some point (when she was 4) we drew the line and informed her that she has to eat what we eat and that she cannot have her chocolate dessert after dinner unless she eats everything on her plate (we didn't load her plate with unfamiliar foods but made sure that there is at least 5 bites of new food). Lo and behold - after some fussing she accepted the new rule and her food preferences expanded dramatically. For example, it turned out that she loves pretty much any fish - so I cook fish more often than I used to.
I love the idea for both kinds of sandwiches!
This is brilliant! My kids don't seem to be allergic, just picky. Johnny's the big problem at the moment, so maybe something like this would help with him.
Holy cow! This is so cute! I love this! I just like the set up. Very cute. I have tons of allergies (that, fortunately, my little one doesn't have0 and this looks super to ME. ;O)
