Dream Big Little Pig
by Kristi Yamaguchi (yes, that one!)
Poppy was a pig. A pot-bellied, waddling, toddling pig. She was a pig with dreams. And she was a pig who dreamed big! She wanted to be a star.Told over and over again by various "experts" to try something else, Poppy jumped from activity to activity, trying to find her calling. Her family and friends remained supportive, telling her to follow her dreams, and to dream big. Eventually she tried figure skating and, while not an immediate talent, she kept on trying, and "by the time the rink closed for the night, Poppy was skating more than she was falling. And it felt like...magic!"
The Bibliophile and I thought this was a cute book, with a nice message about perseverance. He particularly enjoyed the oft repeated refrain "Try something else!"
Perfect for any figure skating fans, of course, but appealing to the general masses as well. The cover is very girly -- lots of pink and purple sparkle going on -- but this didn't phase the Bibliophile.
Looking for other pig books to go along with it? Try the Olivia series
Comment: Can you think of other children's books around the theme of following your dreams?

Trying to think about other "Follow Your Dream" books, but nothing comes to my mind in the middle of the night except wondering why I am awake. How interesting that Kristi Yamaguchi wrote this book.
